Ancient, Punch Marked Coinage, Magadha Mahajanapada, (c. 6th-4th Century BC), Series 1, Silver Karshapana, 3.35 gms, 18.58x25.30 mm, Obverse: Punches of Sun, Six-arm, Three taurines on a common shaft, Fish in a tank with four orbs within, Elephant, Reverse: Banker mark, Series 1 is generally attributed to the period of Magadha under the Haryanka and Shishunaga dynasties and hence could be contemporary to the lifetime of Buddha, Gupta & Hardaker # Series 1, 188, very fine, very rare.
