Ancient, Kushans, Kanishka I (128-150 AD), Bronze Drachm, 4.09 gms, 17.14 mm, Obv: Crowned and diademed king standing, holding a spear and sacrificing at fire altar at left, Bactrian legend around, Rev: Maitreya Buddha seated frontally with legs folded and on a meditation platform, Maitreya Buddha was a prophesied future Buddha to be born to uphold Dharma. These coins depicting Buddha are believed to be minted after the Fourth Buddhist Council held by Kushan King Kanishka I at Kashmir, Gobl # 793, fine, very rare.
