Republic of India, Bronze 50 Paisa Cash Token, 4.72 gms, 23.66 mm, Minted at the India Government Mint in Alipore (Calcutta) shortly after it commenced full operations on March 19, 1952 AD, this Bronze 50 Paisa Cash Token was issued strictly for internal use by mint personnel and never entered public circulation. It is one of a five‑piece internal series—including aluminium 5 paisa, aluminium 10 paisa, bronze 25 paisa, bronze 50 paisa, and bronze 1 rupee—catalogued under Thakkar 100.2.18–21, 23, with the bronze 50 paisa token designated as 100.2.20. Struck in brass, it measures approximately 23.8 mm in diameter, weighs ~4.35 g, features a central round hole, and carries milled edges. The obverse shows “50 Paisa” above the hole and identifies the mint on the reverse with “I.G. MINT ALIPORE * CASH TOKEN.”, this scarce token exhibits only light internal contact marks typical of restricted mint usage, and is a significant piece for collectors of Indian mint exonumia from the post‑independence period.
