Note : According to the Baburnama , the city of Jaunpur was initially captured by Humayun in Safar AH 933. Pursuant to Babur's directives, control of the city was subsequently entrusted to two of his principal commanders, Mir Husain and Sultan Junaid Barlas, in Rabi I AH 933. In Rabi II AH 935, Babur dispatched his son Askari Mirza to relieve the city, which was enduring persistent assaults by Afghan forces. However, Askari was unable to participate in the relief of Jaunpur, as he was recalled by Babur to counter broader Afghan threats emerging in the East. By Ramzan AH 935, administration of Jaunpur was conferred upon Sultan Muhammad-i-Zaman Mirza Bai-Qara , who was at that time accompanying Babur on his Eastern Campaign. It is probable that Zaman Mirza returned to Jaunpur following Babur's departure from the campaign theater, sometime after Shawwal AH 935. While the city fell to Afghan forces in AH 937 before being recaptured by Humayun much later, the period is marked by significant Babur's numismatic activity by Sharukhis minted in Jaunpur Dated AH 936 & AH 937. Sharukhis minted in Jaunpur during AH 936 are well-documented & often appear in public sales; conversely, specimens from AH 937 remain exceedingly rare, reflecting the abbreviated minting window of merely 5 months prior to Babur's death.
